As further cases of the virus continued to rise, four more youngsters were rendered paralyzed by the disease, bringing the total number of cases in the nation for the year to 32.

Together with Afghanistan, Pakistan is one of the two remaining polio-endemic nations in the world. Up to the recent upsurge in cases, the country’s annual case count had considerably decreased.

The nation continues to be afflicted by the debilitating disease polio despite the government’s relentless immunization campaigns.

This extremely contagious virus-induced illness primarily affects children under five who are undernourished or lack immunity due to inadequate or nonexistent vaccination against polio and other childhood illnesses.
