At their home in Chelmsford, Essex, Virginia McCullough, 36, stabbed her mother Lois, 71, in the chest after poisoning her father John, 70, with prescription drugs.
Their deaths occurred in June 2019, however it wasn’t until 2023 that their bodies were found, as their general practitioner had expressed worries about missed appointments.
While constructing a “makeshift tomb” for her father, McCullough concealed their corpses and kept living there, informing friends and neighbors that they had moved away, were ill, or had taken long vacations.
After entering a guilty plea, she was given a life sentence with a minimum of 36 years.
Following the GP’s report, McCullough admitted “moments after” the police were summoned to the family home.
Police forcibly entered the residence and then confronted McCullough in a corridor, according to bodycam footage of the arrest.
She quietly confessed to her crimes and told officers she would “cooperate” in the video, looking almost indifferent.
