ISLAMABAD Ahead of the eagerly awaited Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, businessmen and economic specialists on Sunday voiced serious worries regarding Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) appeal, pleading with the party leadership to rethink and delay their decision.
The previous ruling party had indicated that on October 15, they would stage another protest at the federal capital’s D-Chowk, just as foreign dignitaries were about to arrive in Islamabad for the SCO moot.
A PTI spokesman added that due to the impending protest in the federal capital next week, all district-level protests had been suspended.
The party formed by Imran Khan has been staging protests demanding “independence of the judiciary” and the release of its founder, who is being held at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, in anticipation of the government’s introduction of constitutional reforms.
