Following their phone conversation, the Kremlin announced that Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin both agreed that de-escalation was necessary and denounced Israel’s strikes on Iran on Thursday.
According to Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov, Putin and Xi “strongly condemn Israel’s actions, which violate the U.N. Charter and other norms of international law,” as reported by reporters.
“Both Beijing and Moscow firmly think that the existing state of affairs and the problems surrounding Iran’s nuclear program cannot be resolved militarily.
“This solution must be achieved exclusively through political and diplomatic means,” Ushakov stated.
