The France defender is suing City for £11.5 million in unpaid wages after he was suspended without pay and accused in August 2021.
In 2023, Mendy, 30, was exonerated of several rape and attempted rape accusations.
Following Mendy’s initial arrest in November 2020, the club kept paying him, but they claimed they were exempt from doing so when he was charged because his bail terms, which included a ban on him approaching the team’s stadium or training facility.
According to court filings, after his wages were withheld, Mendy “very quickly ran out of money” and had to sell his Cheshire mansion to pay for bills, legal expenses, and child support.
In his witness statement, Mendy stated, “I tried to pay my legal bills and support my family with the help of Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva, and Riyad Mahrez.
Mendy asked Omar Berrada, who served as City’s Chief Football Operations Officer from September 2020 to July 2024, via Whatsapp in November 2022 when he would get his unpaid salary, but he never heard back.
Speaking during the hearing as well, Mendy’s agent, Meissa N’Diaye, claimed that on September 20, 2021, he spoke with Berrada and was informed that after the trial was concluded.
