An answer was mispronounced on a recent episode of the popular game show, which infuriated spectators.
Five-day “Jeopardy!” champion Mark Fitzpatrick selected the $800 clue from the “Just Doin’ My Job” category.
The question said, “Knows the proper use of propofol; can count to 16 (letters in the job); can tell people to count backward from 100.”
EmmannAs “Jeopardy!” host Ken Jennings searched for the right response to the word “anesthesiologist,” competitor Eamonn Campbell seemed to mispronounce it.
“Anateesiologist?” Campbell replied.
Jennings offered the competitor another shot, but he still had trouble pronouncing the word correctly.
He mispronounced “anathesiologist?” one again.
Dot White, another “Jeopardy!” competitor, called in with the word’s proper pronunciation and responded, “What is an anesthesiologist?” Jennings then acknowledged that it was the correct answer.
Supporters responded quickly to the dubious decision over the difficult prompt.
Ken Jennings blows it once more on Jeopardy. It’s unbelievable that they cheated Eamonn out of his response, “anesthesiologist.” One comment was read.
Emma”Are you frikin kidding me?!!!” wrote another fan. There is no lisp in Eamonn Campbell’s voice. He simply has trouble pronouncing the word “anesthesiologist.” Perhaps he simply isn’t familiar with the word.
