It’s true that the government faces difficulties including misinformation, opposition from parents, and assaults on polio workers, but we also need to acknowledge that our kids are being harmed by inadequate healthcare systems and bad leadership, in addition to the virus itself.
For example, children in Balochistan, where vaccination rates are as low as 37 percent, are susceptible not only to polio but also to other avoidable illnesses. Numerous RHCs are still underfunded or non-operational, depriving vast populations of access to basic healthcare. Because of this, vaccination campaigns—no matter how well-intentioned—only serve as temporary solutions for a chronic problem of public health service neglect.
This is made worse by reports of fabricated immunization records and number-fudging. Environmental sampling continues even though the government claims high coverage.
