Northern Pakistan was shaken by a powerful earthquake that registered 5.7 on the Richter scale, sending locals fleeing their houses in fear.
Weaker tremors were recorded in Chitral and Swat, although the tremors were felt most intensely in Dir and the neighboring districts.
The epicenter of the earthquake was situated in the Hindu Kush mountain range in Afghanistan, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) in Islamabad. It was stated by the PDMA to be 187 kilometers deep.
