India hopes to keep up their intense practice against New Zealand.

India will look to continue an unprecedented run of test success on home soil when they face an injury-hit New Zealand in the opener of a three-match series beginning on Wednesday.

With just four losses and seven draws in 53 tests, India has won 18 straight series at home since falling short 2-1 to a touring England team in 2012.

The team led by Rohit Sharma entered the series having swept Bangladesh 2-0, but Gautam Gambhir, the team’s coach, feels that their next opponents presented an entirely new task.

“We are aware of their exceptional teamwork. They have a number of very good players. Their gamers are capable of harming us. They also have players who can do well for them,” stated Gambhir.

“They continue to fight, and we anticipate them doing the same. We don’t fear anyone, but we do respect them.”
