Sinwar, who is regarded as the mastermind of the October 7 attack just over a year ago, was “eliminated” in southern Gaza on Wednesday, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
Note: There is a potentially upsetting visual in this narrative.
Additionally, the Israeli military made public drone footage that it said captured the Hamas leader’s last moments before his death.
Sinwar, 62, who is said to be accountable for the 1,200 people who were massacred by Hamas terrorists in southern Israel last year, is shown in the video sitting in a destroyed structure with injuries.
He is seen attempting to toss something at the drone while seated in a chair with a scarf over his face.
The course of the conflict
As additional information becomes available, it seems the killing was not the product of a planned operation but rather of an accidental encounter.
