The Supreme Court made it clear on Friday that changes to election legislation cannot overturn its decision in the reserved seats case. This is a serious setback to the ruling coalition as it prepares to implement judicial reforms.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan declared that “the amendments made to the Elections Act subsequent to the publication of our brief order will not be relevant and the commission is required to execute the judgment rendered by the Supreme Court of Pakistan, in its letter and spirit, without seeking any further clarification.”
This was yet another clarification from the Supreme Court on Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s reservation of seats.
