After North Korea previously supplied Russia with weapons, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin referred to the deployment as a “next step” and warned that Pyongyang might suffer repercussions for actively assisting Moscow.
He stated that analysts were evaluating the situation but did not elaborate.
While on a visit to Rome, Mr. Austin told reporters that the United States is “seeing evidence” of the deployment, following South Korea’s announcement that its secluded neighbor had moved 3,000 troops to Russia.
The United States believes the soldiers traveled by ship to Vladivostok, Russia’s largest city, according to White House national security spokesman John Kirby.
According to Mr. Kirby, these men proceeded to several Russian military training facilities in eastern Russia, where they are presently receiving instruction.
Although we do not yet know if these soldiers will fight with the Russian military, the likelihood is undoubtedly quite alarming.
