ISLAMABAD: The government may attempt to propose constitutional reforms in the future, but the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has declared that it will never compromise.
The party staged a walkout during the previous parliamentary session to voice its concerns as legislators moved forward with voting on the controversial 26th Constitutional Amendment.
The new amendment, according to PTI officials, would give parliament undue control over the judiciary by allowing political meddling in legal affairs, especially in the selection of Supreme Court judges and the chief justice.
The most recent declaration was made in reaction to reports that told News that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Bilawal Bhutto, the chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), had a conversation about the “27th constitutional amendment.”
