Two police officers accompanying a polio vaccination team in Upper Orakzai, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, were martyred by heavily armed terrorists on Tuesday. Three militants were also killed in a fierce gunfight with the security forces.
Muhammad Rahim, an Upper Orakzai Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), reported that armed individuals opened fire on police officers escorting the vaccinators during the event, which happened in the Dabori Badan area.
Sayyed Hameed, one of the police officers, was killed instantly, and the other was taken to the District Headquarters Hospital in Orakzai. But while receiving treatment, Muzammil, the wounded police officer, too passed away from his injuries.
The Frontier Corps responded quickly to the attack by establishing a search and cordoning off the area.
