KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur declared on Monday that they would do whatever it took to acquire the national airline after the Board of Investment and Trade (BOIT) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa showed “earnest interest” in buying Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).
In a statement, CM Gandapur claimed that the Sharif family sought to buy the PIA, saying, “The secret is out.”
He was responding to a recent speech by Nawaz Sharif, the president of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), in which he affirmed the plan put out by Maryam Nawaz, the chief minister of Punjab, to buy the national carrier and rename it “Air Punjab.”
He declared that if the KP government bought the PIA, it would not rename the national airline.
