Uruguayan author Eduardo Galeano envisions “how the world will be in 2025” in his 1995 poem The Right to Dream. He envisions a better world with equality, peace, and reverence for the natural world.
Regretfully, we are still far from realizing Galeano’s ambition as 2025 approaches. Actually, we are finding ourselves in more and more predicaments where human civilization’s survival is under jeopardy. Extreme weather events, record-breaking temperatures, genocide, and lethal exposure to pollutants and toxic chemicals caused mass deaths, injuries, displacement, poverty, and misery for millions of people globally this year alone.
Even while the near future appears grim, our educational systems are far from giving kids the resources and information they need to comprehend it.
