Up to 16,506 students enrolled in the morning, evening, and executive master’s programs in business administration at the University of Karachi have yet to settle long-standing debts totaling over Rs2,101.5 million between 2020 and 2024.
Research scholars enrolling in MPhil/PhD and other postgraduate programs are not included in the number for defaulter students, the university said in a statement issued on Wednesday.
Professor Dr. Khalid Mahmood Iraqi, the vice chancellor of KU, presided over a meeting where this information was presented.
Members of the meeting expressed worry about the massive sum of Rs2,101,486,351 that the 16,506 defaulting students still owed.
They suggested that debtors should not be permitted to take the tests and that they should not be given admission cards under any circumstances.
