ISLAMABAD: After being overpowered by the tear gas used by the Rangers and security forces, Bushra Bibi, the wife of former prime minister Imran Khan, decided to call off the protest and head back to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, causing the “do-or-die” protest organized by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to abruptly end in the federal capital in the early hours of Wednesday.
Although this measure temporarily reduced the unrest, the conflict that has been going on since 2018 was not resolved. One fundamental problem is still the undervaluation of political institutions’ pivotal role in decision-making.
In an apparent attempt to get Khan out of jail, the PTI organized a protest march from KP on November 24. However, the demonstration was unable to stop the establishment’s alleged pivotal role in the situation, nor did it result in his release.
