Rana Sanaullah, the prime minister’s adviser on political affairs, stated that cabinet members do not all agree on banning the former ruling party, two days after the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) officially canceled its highly anticipated protest demonstration in Islamabad after a security forces crackdown.
The politician’s remarks follow the Balochistan Assembly’s resolution on Thursday, which called for the party led by Imran Khan to be banned due to recent “violence” during its protest march in the nation’s capital on November 26.
In reference to the violent protest that erupted last year after PTI founder Imran Khan was arrested, the resolution claimed that the PTI, which has been at odds with the government, was to blame for the May 9 events.
