A major revision to the Punjab Vagrancy Ordinance of 1958 was approved by the Punjab government, increasing the penalty for child begging from one year to a considerable ten years.
On December 20, this decision was made in an effort to address the growing concerns in the area about child begging and exploitation.
The delivery of medical supplies to Parachinar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was one among several other measures that were considered during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
“They are our own, and we cannot leave them in trouble,” the Chief Minister said, underscoring the government’s resolve to help the people of Parachinar.
Along with discussing a farmer-friendly wheat release strategy and approving the completion of Pakistan’s first green construction project, the cabinet also doubled the penalty for child begging.
