Following a cyberattack that delayed both domestic and international flights on Thursday, Japan Airlines (JAL) said that its systems were back up and functioning.
After All Nippon Airways (ANA), the airline is the second largest in Japan. “We have identified the cause and scope of the malfunction, and the system has been restored,” the airline said.
JAL said in a post on social networking platform X that the “large data attack” had no impact on safety and did not expose any consumer information.
According to Japanese media, it might have been a “Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS)” assault, which aims to overwhelm and disrupt a server or website.
According to JAL, ticket sales for both domestic and international flights leaving on Thursday have resumed after being halted during the incident.
