SARGODHA: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Thursday issued a bailable arrest warrant for National Assembly Opposition Leader Omar Ayub for failing to appear in court in a case pertaining to the May 9 riots, adding to the legal troubles facing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) officials.
Sajid Mehmood, Ayub’s attorney, confirmed the situation, stating that the NA opposition leader’s medical certificate had been sent to the Sargodha court and that he will be appearing in court on January 30.
The arrest warrant was issued in the midst of several cases filed against 300 party members at the Kamar Mashani and Musa Khel police stations in Mianwali, as well as PTI’s Ayub, Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Malik Ahmed Khan Bachar, MNA Bilal Ejaz, Sanam Javaid, and Aliya Hamza.
