ISLAMABAD: In the bench powers case against Additional Registrar Nazar Abbas for contempt of court, the Supreme Court postponed rendering a decision on Thursday.
The contempt of court action against the extra registrar for failing to schedule the bench powers case for hearing was handled by a two-member Supreme Court bench.
The matter at hand concerns the incorrect case-fixing by Additional Registrar (Judicial) Nazar Abbas, who has since been removed from his position, which included a challenge to the authority of the Custom Act 1969. Abbas incorrectly fixed cases intended for the Supreme Court’s constitutional bench rather than a regular one.
