ISLAMABAD: Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, the chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue, has called on Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb to halt the purchase of 1,010 automobiles for the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) right away.
Senator Mandviwalla expressed concerns about the procurement process in a letter dated January 22. He emphasized that the acquisition’s timing and scope created “considerable doubts about the transparency and integrity of the process” that require additional investigation.
The letter was sent the day after the Senate body, which had criticized the FBR’s decision to buy 1,010 vehicles for operational use at an estimated cost of Rs6 billion, told the Board to halt the procurement.
