PARACHINAR: After aid convoys arrived, the cost of basic food products began to decline, providing some respite to residents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s violence-torn Kurram area.
The price reduction coincides with continuous attempts to lessen the sufferings brought on by extended route closures and supply constraints.
Prices at the local markets have dropped since a huge vehicle delivering veggies recently arrived. Green chilies have decreased from Rs800 to Rs400 per kg, tomatoes are now selling for Rs150 a kilogram, and onions are selling for Rs250.
The cost of fruit has also decreased; oranges are now just Rs400 instead of Rs600, and lemons are now only Rs500 instead of Rs800.
While chicken meat has decreased from Rs 2,000 to Rs 500, the cost of live chicken has been cut in half.
