Due to outbreaks of livestock diseases such as sheep pox, goat pox, and foot-and-mouth disease, China has banned the importation of sheep, goats, poultry, and even-toed ungulates from African, Asian, and European nations.
According to a series of statements by China’s General Administration of Customs dated January 21, the restriction, which also covers processed and unprocessed foodstuffs, follows the World Health Organization’s release of information regarding illness outbreaks in other nations.
Ghana, Somalia, Qatar, Congo (DRC), Nigeria, Tanzania, Egypt, Bulgaria, East Timor, and Eritrea are all impacted by the ban from the biggest beef importer in the world.
Due to outbreaks of sheep and goat pox, China also announced that it has halted the importation of sheep, goats, and related items from Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, and Palestine.
