KARACHI: The city’s largest livestock market at the Northern Bypass opened to the public in an inauguration ceremony conducted by Mayor Murtaza Wahab and Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad, despite Eid ul Adha being more than a month away.
In his remarks on Saturday, Mayor Wahab described the Northern Bypass cattle market as the biggest in Asia and promised to address the market’s security concerns as well as other problems.
Wahab stated that this year, cow markets will not be permitted to be put up all over the city and that the government will collect taxes from those that are already established, citing the fact that the cattle market was a major social event in Karachi.
