KARACHI: According to The News on Sunday, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has cautioned Karachi residents to prepare for a heatwave-like situation as climate change continues to alter weather patterns. Temperatures are predicted to reach a scorching 41 degrees Celsius.
PMD Deputy Director Anjum Zaigham has predicted that temperatures around the city will stay 4°C to 6°C above normal from April 20 (today) to April 23 due to a halt in the sea breeze and changing wind patterns.
He said that northwesterly winds will momentarily cut off the sea air, exacerbating the heat conditions. “We expect hot to very hot and dry weather during this period,” he warned.
