Before being shot by police and taken to the hospital, the son of a deputy sheriff killed two people and injured four others at Florida State University on Thursday, according to authorities.
Since there was no known motivation, police believe the gunman, who is the son of a Leon County sheriff’s deputy, acted alone. The firearm that his mother used as a service weapon was in the suspect’s possession. According to them, she purchased it from the department, and it is now a personal firearm.
At the press conference, Leon County Sheriff Walter McNeil stated, “Unfortunately, one of her weapons that was found at the scene was accessible to her son.”
