After wrapping off a trip to Azerbaijan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif landed in Tashkent on Tuesday for a two-day official visit.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the president of Uzbekistan, invited the premier to visit the Central Asian country.
Senior government and diplomatic officials greeted the prime minister at the airport, including Uzbekistan’s ambassador to Pakistan Alisher Takhitayev, Pakistan’s ambassador to Uzbekistan Ahmed Farooq, Tashkent’s mayor Shavkat Umurzakov, Uzbekistan’s ambassador to Pakistan Bakhtiyor Saidov, and Uzbekistan’s prime minister Abdulla Aripov.
The prime minister received the static salute from a well-groomed unit of the Uzbek military.
Prime Minister Shehbaz paid respect to Uzbekistan’s great historical personalities by visiting the Independence Monument in Tashkent and laying a wreath there.
