ISLAMABAD: On Friday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif gave the relevant authorities a deadline to guarantee transparency in Pakistan International Airlines’ (PIA) privatization process.
A significant step in the federal government’s attempt to sell a majority ownership in the national flag carrier, the move was made a day after it formally requested expressions of interest (EOIs) from possible investors for the privatization of PIA.
The Privatization Commission claims that the decision was made to sell the potential buyer between 51 and 100 percent of PIA shares, together with managerial control. The deadline for interested parties to submit their EOIs is June 3, 2025.
