Crimson Tide, a 1995 movie, starring Denzel and Gandolfini. In contrast to Gandolfini’s Lieutenant Bobby Dougherty, the former portrayed Lieutenant Commander Ron Hunter.
Premiere magazine at the time reported that the two got into a “scruffle” because of a scenario in which Gandolfini had to grab the Gladiator II star by the collar. The Sopranos star, in Denzel’s opinion, was acting more aggressively than necessary. He then “storm[ed] over” to speak with director Tony Scott about the issue.
