Following the militant attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) last week, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio urged India and Pakistan to cooperate in order to reduce tensions, the State Department announced on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, Rubio had separate conversations with Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Following the talks, the State Department released separate remarks in which he called on Pakistan to assist in the investigation of the incident that claimed over two dozen lives.
According to State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce, “the Secretary spoke of the need to condemn the terror attack on April 22 in Pahalgam.”
