As tensions between the South Asian neighbors increased after a deadly attack in Kashmir, an Indian government source told Reuters on Friday that India had urged the International Monetary Fund to reassess loans given to Pakistan.
An attack on tourists in India-held Kashmir last week killed 26 persons, prompting India and Pakistan to declare a number of steps. There is concern that the most recent crisis between the nuclear-armed adversaries could turn into a war.
The three attackers have been labeled “terrorists” by New Delhi, including two that it claims are Pakistani nationals. Islamabad has demanded an impartial inquiry and denied any involvement.
The two nations have blocked each other’s planes from using their airspace, and India has canceled a crucial river water sharing agreement.
