India has been advised by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to use the utmost prudence and refrain from engaging in combat with Pakistan.
“Tensions between India and Pakistan are at their highest in years,” the secretary-general told reporters at the UN headquarters in New York.
“It pains me to see the relations reaching a boiling point,” he said, praising both India and Pakistan’s contributions to UN work, especially UN peacekeeping missions.
He sent his condolences to the victims’ families and denounced the Pahalgam incident that killed 26 tourists on April 22. He cautioned India against initiating a military confrontation with Pakistan, nevertheless.
