Trump rejected calls for a third term in office during an interview with NBC’s Meet the Press that aired on Sunday, saying he would stick to the Constitution’s two-term limit, according to the news.
“I will serve as president for eight years, a total of two terms. Throughout the discussion, Trump stated, “I always thought that was very important.”
These comments come after a string of statements in which President Trump seemed to consider serving more than two terms.
He had earlier claimed that his remarks were intended to provoke the media and that he was “not joking” about running for a third or even fourth term.
