Days prior to the commencement of a truce, which Russian President Vladimir Putin had ordered to coincide with a World War Two parade, Russia claims Ukraine launched a drone strike on Moscow.
According to officials, the bombardment caused Moscow’s four main airports to close for a few hours on Tuesday. Ukraine has not commented, and there were no injuries.
On May 9, Moscow will celebrate the triumph of the Soviet Union and its allies over Nazi Germany with a parade. The 80th anniversary of the conclusion of foreign War II is being celebrated in Russia this year, and foreign leaders, including Xi Jinping of China, will be present.
Ukraine has not complied with Putin’s request for a three-day ceasefire starting on May 8. Kyiv wants the truce to last longer.
