Although the amount of the destruction is yet unknown, UN nuclear inspector director Rafael Grossi said Monday that the US strike likely inflicted “very significant” damage to the underground sections of Iran’s Fordow uranium enrichment plant, which is buried in a mountain.
Using those bunker-busting missiles in battle for the first time, the United States launched the largest conventional bombs in its arsenal on Iranian nuclear installations on Sunday in an attempt to destroy locations such as the Fordow uranium-enrichment plant, which was buried in a mountain.
During an emergency meeting of the 35-nation Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Grossi stated, “At this time, no one, including the IAEA, is in a position to have fully assessed the underground damage at Fordow.”
