After the Indian Premier League (IPL) was suspended due to growing security concerns, Australian players competing in the 2025 season are reportedly considering their options of moving to Dubai or returning home.
In response to the current situation with Pakistan, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) postponed the 2025 IPL “with immediate effect for one week,” BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said in a statement.
Players and employees booked early departures as franchises started to disintegrate soon after the announcement, according to AFP.
According to sources, the board considered a number of backup plans, such as relocating games to neutral locations, before deciding to put the tournament on hold.
