BEIJING: According to the China Earthquake Administration (CEA), an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 occurred near Tibet early on Monday.
around 10 km (6.2 miles) below the surface, the earthquake struck Shigatse around 5:11 a.m. (2111 GMT).
According to CEA, authorities have sent emergency reaction teams, and no casualties have been reported as of yet.
A 6.8-magnitude earthquake that shook Tibet’s Tingri county, around 240 kilometers (149 miles) from Shigatse, in January claimed the lives of over 120 people.
