Following a ceasefire over the weekend that put an end to the heaviest fighting with neighboring Pakistan since 1999, India reopened 32 airports on Monday.
The 32, which run from Bhuj in the western state of Gujarat to Srinagar in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, are now open for civil operations “with immediate effect,” according to the Airport Authority of India.
They were shut down last week following four days of intense combat between India and Pakistan that raised fears around the world that it would turn into a full-scale conflict.
IndiGo, a prominent airline in India, announced that it would “progressively commence operations on the previously closed routes”
