On Tuesday, US President Donald Trump received a $600 billion pledge from Saudi Arabia to invest in the US as the oil giant gave him a warm welcome at the beginning of a Gulf tour.
Prince Mohammed bin Salman greeted Trump as he stepped off of Air Force One and later inked a deal with the president in Riyadh on mining, oil, defense, and other topics.
The US referred to the over $142 billion defense sales deal between the partners as the largest part of Saudi Arabia’s financial pledge.
In April, Reuters reported that the United States was prepared to present the monarchy with an armaments package valued at well over $100 billion.
