French movie actor Gérard Depardieu was sentenced to 18 months in suspended prison after being found guilty of sexually abusing two women during a Parisian film shoot.
The two ladies claimed the 76-year-old actor of touching them while they were working on a 2021 movie. Depardieu’s attorney stated that he would file an appeal after he refuted the accusations made against him.
A Parisian court concluded that although the actor’s testimony had evolved over time, one of the ladies, Amélie, a set dresser, had provided consistent testimony.
After the verdict, she told reporters she was “very moved” and pleased, calling it “a victory, a major step forward.”
