Foreign Minister David Lammy stated on Saturday that Britain is collaborating with the United States to guarantee that a truce between India and Pakistan is maintained and that “confidence-building measures” and communication occur.
Pakistan has claimed that the United States, Britain, and other nations were crucial in defusing the most intense conflict in decades between the hostile South Asian nations with nuclear weapons, which broke out last week. The ceasefire was successfully mediated on May 10 after a swift diplomatic effort, but analysts and diplomats say it is still precarious.
“We will keep collaborating with the United States to secure a sustainable ceasefire, to make sure that communication is taking place, and to figure out how to build trust with Pakistan and India.”
