Justice Ijaz Swati was appointed as the permanent Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court (BHC) by the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) on Monday.
Chief Justice Yahya Afridi presided over a JCP meeting where the decision was made. The panel unanimously accepted Justice Swati’s promotion after considering three candidates for the post under a single agenda item.
After the ruling, the Judicial Commission sent a formal letter to the Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary outlining its suggestion. The Prime Minister’s Office has been properly notified, according to sources.
According to the constitutional process specified in Article 175A of the Constitution, Justice Swati’s appointment is currently pending final approval by the President.
