HYDERABAD: First Lady Aseefa Bhutto-Zardari’s convoy was stopped at the Jamshoro toll plaza on Friday, prompting police to file a first information report (FIR) and make multiple arrests.
Aseefa Bhutto, President Asif Ali Zardari’s youngest daughter, was traveling in a convoy to Nawabshah yesterday when they were stopped close to the Jamshoro toll plaza, according to the senior superintendent of police in Jamshoro.
According to the police officer, a group of individuals were holding a protest against the contentious canals project, which the federal government put on indefinite hold last month.
The SSP reported that charged demonstrators also used batons to attack cars in the convoy, but that Aseefa Bhutto’s car was safely removed by the police in less than a minute.
