LAHORE: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) confirmed on Monday that at least 18 people had died and 110 others had been injured in rain-related incidents as Punjab was hit by intense thunderstorms and torrential rains.
Speaking on the morning show “Pakistan” on News, DG PDMA Punjab Irfan Ali Kathia described the weather as “unprecedented” and “beyond expectations,” stating that while significant rainfall was predicted, the system’s intensity was not expected.
There have been 124 recorded instances of structural collapse in Punjab thus far, according to Kathia. He claimed that rooftop solar panels, which were put without proper safety precautions, were responsible for the majority of these events.
