In a humanitarian gesture ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has granted a 90-day temporary amnesty for a chosen group of convicts throughout Punjab.
About 450 offenders are anticipated to profit from the action, which aims to enable reformed inmates to spend the holiday with their family.
The Punjab Home Department confirmed the amnesty’s implementation by issuing a formal notification under Rule 216 of the Pakistan Prison Rules 1978 in response to the chief minister’s direction. 270 inmates will be released from various jails throughout the province in time to celebrate Eid with their loved ones, out of the total beneficiaries.
