In accordance with a deal made during peace negotiations in Turkey last week, Russia and Ukraine said on Tuesday that they had exchanged an undisclosed number of ill and injured POWs.
Following a first exchange of inmates under the age of 25 on Monday, the handover occurred.
“The first phase of our severely injured and wounded soldiers’ return from Russian custody begins today.
They all need to be treated right away. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy stated on Telegram that this is a significant humanitarian gesture and that communication would continue.
