GENEVA: Pakistan called on Friday’s emergency session of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to step in immediately and help find a peaceful solution to the escalating Iran-Israel dispute.
“This is a pivotal moment,” Pakistan’s permanent representative to the UN, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, stated during the debate, calling on the Council to fulfill its duty by fostering communication and diplomacy in accordance with the UN Charter in order to stop additional instability in the area.
In light of the growing conflict between Iran and Israel, Guyana, which is in charge of the Council’s presidency in June, called the emergency session, with assistance from Pakistan and other countries.
